  • When: Sunday, March 29 – 3 p.m.

Skylar Bouchard is gearing up to celebrate the release of his new single “Screen Door” with a special livestream performance this Sunday.

The singer plans to launch a series of regular at-home concert sessions known as the “Sunday Afternoon Serenade” to connect with fans practicing social distancing.

Having spent hours watching cars pass by on the highway from his childhood bedroom window, Bouchard says the lyrics in “Screen Door” are reminiscent of a time when he longed for the freedom of the open road – a feeling many people can relate to these days.

RAYANNAH

  • When: Saturday, March 28 – 6 p.m.

This alternative bilingual artist will be taking part in the #CanadaPerforms initiative presented by the National Arts Centre – a series of livestreams helping Canadian musicians promote their work during the Coronavirus pandemic.

Since releasing her debut album Nos repaires in 2019, Rayannah has received praise across Canada for her elaborate stage designs, imaginative use of loop pedals, and her intricate, ethereal melodies. Most recently, she performed at Winnipeg’s 2020 Festival du Voyageur in support of Ariane Moffatt.

We’re curious to see if she’ll be incorporating any creative visual art pieces into her session or if she’ll strip back the synth for a more intimate acoustic experience. Either way, Rayannah’s voice is sure to put you at ease.

LEONARD SUMNER

This week, Anishinaabe singer/songwriter Leonard Sumner announced that he’ll be live-streaming an exclusive front-to-back acoustic performance of his 2013 debut album, Rez Poetry.

The eclectic album, inspired by Sumner’s experience growing up on the Little Saskatchewan First Nation, incorporates elements of country, hip-hop, blues and spoken word poetry.
